What a Day for GMBC!
Yesterday was a massive day for Monty Baseball Club, showcasing the true heart and soul of our community! With three teams fighting it out in grand finals, one battling in a prelim, and our U13 juniors taking on a cross-river challenge, Monty was buzzing with excitement and pride.
The day kicked off with our U13 Majors stepping up to the Monty diamond against Knox in a friendly cross-river match. With an amazing home run and some stellar fielding, our juniors brought home a thrilling win, setting the tone for the day!
Next, our A2 and A4 teams took to the field, both delivering outstanding performances that earned them well-deserved victories to cap off their season. The energy was electric as they left everything on the field, and we couldn't be prouder of their success!
While it wasn’t our day for the A3 and A1 teams, they showed incredible heart, determination, and Monty spirit throughout the season. Their journey has been nothing short of inspiring, and they’ve set a high standard for what it means to wear the Monty pinstripes.
We’re also thrilled to share that Jai Pouaka-Grego (A Grade), Simon Fitzmaurice (A Res) and Peter Stokes (A3) were awarded MWBL MVP for 2024! Their exceptional performances on the field have been nothing short of extraordinary, and we couldn’t be more proud of these two outstanding players.
In 2024, Monty Baseball Club proudly fielded five senior teams, one women’s team, and seven junior teams. Each of these teams, from our youngest juniors to our most seasoned players, has embodied the spirit, passion, and camaraderie that make this club special. All of our teams—juniors, seniors, and women’s—finished in the top 4, securing their spots in the finals and proving that Monty is a force to be reckoned with.
We are incredibly proud of the club we’ve built together and the amazing community that stands behind it. As we reflect on this phenomenal season, we’re already looking ahead to 2025, eager to continue growing, improving, and creating more unforgettable moments.
A heartfelt thank you to our players, coaches, scorers, umpires, volunteers, and, of course, our unbeatable cheer squads. Your unwavering support and dedication are the heartbeat of GMBC, and we couldn’t do it without you.
Let’s carry this momentum forward and keep the Monty spirit burning bright—2025, here we come!
